The purpose of the Governmental Affairs Committee is to consider the impact of governmental actions on matters pertaining to real property. The committee examines and responds to calls for action on federal, state, and local proposals, regulations, and laws.
Additionally, committee members conduct candidate interviews and make recommendations to MAAR's Board of Directors to support local, state, and congressional candidates who favor legislation and regulation beneficial to the real estate industry.
• The term length is (1) three-year term.
• After serving (1) three-year term, members are required to sit off the committee for (2) two years. Following the two-year hiatus, the member is eligible to reapply.
• Elected Officials currently in office cannot serve on the committee.
• Governmental Affairs Committee members must have served on the MAAR RPAC Committee for at least one year at some point as a pre-requisite or be an RPAC Major Investor in the current year prior to serving on the MAAR GAC.
Prior experience serving on the RPAC Fundraising Committee is preferred. The committee meets monthly and the staff liaison is Chris Connolly.
