Created in 2003 by the Memphis Area Association of REALTORS®, the MAAR Commercial Council is committed to providing an organization specifically for the Memphis area commercial real estate community, including commercial developers, commercial brokers, commercial and affiliate brokers, property managers and other commercial real estate professionals.
The MAAR Commercial Council is a self-governed, freestanding division of MAAR. It is overseen by its own Board of Directors, which itself is composed of commercial real estate leaders. Candidates for the Board of Directors are nominated and elected by the commercial real estate community at the annual Commercial Council election meeting in August, with the new Board members taking office the following January.
In addition to the elected Directors, the Board of Directors also includes a member of the MAAR Board of Directors and the local chapter presidents of MAAR's Commercial Institute Affiliates: IREM, CCIM, RLI, SIOR, ULI, and CREW.
The Council organizes education and other recognition programs throughout the year, including the annual Commercial Property Forecast Summit in the fall and the Pinnacle Awards in April. The Commercial Council Golf Tournament benefitting Make-A-Wish Foundation® is a great way to connect to the community and colleagues in the real estate industry.
In November 2013, the National Association of REALTORS® presented the Council with an ACE (Accredited Commercial Excellence) Award for showing a commitment to not only the commercial REALTOR® members but to the community as well.
