Election Day: Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2026
The Nov. 3 election includes federal, state, and local races, along with proposed amendments to the Tennessee Constitution.
The Memphis Area Association of REALTORS® (MAAR) provides information about issues affecting property ownership and real estate, as well as its candidate support decisions in local municipal elections.
Tennessee Constitutional Amendment 2: State Property Tax
Amendment 2 would amend the Tennessee Constitution to permanently prohibit the state legislature from imposing a state property tax on real, personal, or mixed property.
A YES vote would add that prohibition to the state constitution. A NO vote would leave the existing constitutional language unchanged.
The amendment concerns state-level property taxation and would not eliminate existing local property taxes.
