At MAAR, advocacy is core to our mission. The policies shaped at the local level directly impact housing affordability, property rights, and the ability of our members to effectively serve their clients. That’s why we take an active, thoughtful role in engaging with candidates for public office.
Each election cycle, MAAR conducts a structured candidate evaluation process that includes detailed questionnaires and in-person interviews conducted by member-led panels. Candidates are evaluated on their understanding of real estate issues, their approach to growth and development, and their willingness to support policies that promote homeownership and protect private property rights.
Recommendations from these panels are submitted to and approved by the Governmental Affairs Committee and the MAAR Board of Directors.
We share these recommendations with our members to provide transparency into our process and to help inform their engagement in the upcoming election. Our goal is not only to support strong candidates, but to ensure that real estate remains a respected and informed voice in shaping our community’s future.
For questions, please contact MAAR's Governmental Affairs Director, Chris Connolly.
