One of the best ways to expand your career, build connections and support the real estate industry is to serve on local, state or national committees. MAAR encourages all members to explore available opportunities and seek positions! The more MAAR members who serve, the greater impact we can have on the industry at large.
This year, NAR has added new applicant profile tools to support the national committee application process for 2027. Read more about these resources and prepare to apply for the 2027 NAR Committee cycle starting April 1!
The National Association of REALTORS≥ (NAR) is introducing several improvements to the committee application and selection process beginning this spring. These updates will create a more transparent, streamlined experience and help match you with committee roles that best align with your expertise.
If you’re interested in serving on an NAR committee in 2027, here are the key changes to know:
1. New Expertise Profile
NAR is introducing a redesigned Expertise Profile that allows you to better highlight your professional experience and qualifications.
- You will have more space to describe your areas of expertise and professional designations.
- You must complete a new Expertise Profile to be considered for a 2027 committee appointment.
- Existing profiles cannot be reused or edited, and you will be asked to review and update your profile each year moving forward.
2. More specialized applications
NAR Committee applications will now include questions tailored to each committee’s focus area. This will help you match with opportunities that align with your experience and interests.
- They are introducing a new Vice Chair application for each committee, providing greater service opportunities.
- Additional questions will help you more effectively highlight your leadership experience and committee-specific expertise.
3. Improved endorsement process
NAR is also updating the endorsement process to emphasize professional qualifications. Endorsers will see information about each committee’s purpose and requirements to help them provide more informed and relevant recommendations.
4. Updated timeline
Because of these changes, the application schedule has shifted:
- March 9, 2026: New Expertise Profile launches
- April 1, 2026: Committee applications open
