One of the best ways to expand your career, build connections and support the real estate industry is to serve on local, state or national committees. MAAR encourages all members to explore available opportunities and seek positions! The more MAAR members who serve, the greater impact we can have on the industry at large.

This year, NAR has added new applicant profile tools to support the national committee application process for 2027. Read more about these resources and prepare to apply for the 2027 NAR Committee cycle starting April 1!

The National Association of REALTORS® (NAR) is introducing several improvements to the committee application and selection process beginning this spring. These updates are designed to create a more transparent, streamlined experience and help match members with committee roles that best align with their expertise.

If you’re interested in serving on an NAR committee in 2027, here are the key changes to know:

1. New Expertise Profile

NAR is introducing a redesigned Expertise Profile that allows members to better highlight their professional experience and qualifications.

  • Members will have more space to describe their areas of expertise and professional designations.

  • All applicants must complete a new Expertise Profile to be considered for a 2027 committee appointment.

  • Existing profiles cannot be reused or edited, and members will be asked to review and update their profile each year moving forward.

2. More specialized applications

Committee applications will now include questions tailored to each committee’s focus area. This helps ensure applicants are matched with opportunities that align with their experience and interests.

  • A new Vice Chair application will also be introduced.

  • Additional questions will help candidates better highlight leadership experience and committee-specific expertise.

3. Improved endorsement process

The endorsement process is also being updated to place greater emphasis on professional qualifications.

  • Endorsers will see information about each committee’s purpose and requirements.

  • This will help them provide more informed and relevant recommendations.
