On Dec. 10–11, a late-season tornado outbreak occurred across the Southern United States, causing catastrophic damage and numerous fatalities. Over two dozen counties were impacted in West and Middle Tennessee alone, including Shelby, Tipton and Hardeman Counties.

As of Dec. 17, the REALTORS® Relief Foundation (RRF) has approved relief funds to be used toward mortgage and rental assistance for residents of the Tennessee counties that were impacted. The RRF is now accepting applications for assistance from eligible Tennesseans whose primary residence was affected.

Eligible counties include Lake, Obion, Weakley, Dyer, Decatur, Henderson, Madison, Hardeman, Shelby, Tipton, Henry and Gibson Counties in West Tennessee, and Dickson, Cheatham, Davidson, Humphreys, Houston, Hickman, Rutherford, Sumner, Wilson, Smith, Stewart, Montgomery and Perry Counties in Middle Tennessee.

Assistance is available to qualified applicants towards one of the following options:

  1. Monthly mortgage expense for the primary residence that was damaged by tornadoes in the eligible counties listed above.
  2. Rental cost due to displacement from the primary residence resulting from tornado damage in the eligible counties listed above.

The deadline to apply is February 28, 2022. Recipients must be full-time residents and U.S. citizens or legally admitted for residence in the United States. Relief assistance is limited to a maximum of $1,000 per applicant per household while funds last.

All information provided will remain confidential and available only to those who need to confirm eligibility for assistance and to those who process the assistance to be provided. This includes providing a copy of this application to the applicant's lender or landlord if requested. It will not be shared with other parties for any other purpose.
