The Association's Governing Documents Committee works diligently each year to review the MAAR Bylaws to ensure they are up-to-date and accurate. This year, the committee has come up with seven proposed amendments to the Bylaws, which were presented to the MAAR Board of Directors in July and approved by the Board for voting.
To ensure members understand these proposed amendments to the bylaws, the Association will hold a Town Hall to explain both the amendments themselves and the rationale behind them. Members are encouraged to join us at the Bylaws Amendments Town Hall on August 27 at 9 a.m. Both in-person and virtual options are available.
The proposed amendments will then be presented for a vote at the Annual Meeting on September 9 at 9 a.m. at the FedEx Event Center at Shelby Farms Park. Be advised that only REALTOR® members may vote on the Bylaws and the full slate of candidates. REALTOR-ASSOCIATE® members may only vote for the REALTOR-ASSOCIATE® candidates.
At the Annual Meeting, all eligible REALTOR® members will be asked to check in at the registration desk to obtain an electronic voting card to cast their vote during the meeting. It is critical that we have a quorum of voting REALTOR® members in person at the meeting to vote on bylaws changes. The current bylaws only allow for changes at an in-person meeting of the members, and only if a quorum is met.
We urge all REALTORS® to attend the Annual Meeting so we can present and vote on the proposed amendments. If you plan to attend, be sure to RSVP. We look forward to seeing you there.
