During the 2020 REALTORS® Legislative Meetings, the board of the National Association of REALTORS® passed a series of Finance Committee motions, including approval of a 2021 budget that keeps dues at $150 per year. The Association expects a decline in membership to 1.3 million from 1.37 million members.

NAR Treasurer John Flor, discussing the budget, said the 2021 estimate is conservative, whereas NAR Chief Economist Lawrence Yun believes the number could reach 1.35 million members.

If the conservative estimate is accurate, it would result in a budget deficit, says Flor, but NAR is prepared to "manage to reality. Just because we're budgeted for this, doesn't mean we have to spend it."

NAR voted in 2019 to increase dues from $120 to $150, the first increase in eight years. MAAR has not increased membership dues since 1992 and has no plans to do so.
