License Expiration Information

Per the May 2019 TREC Update

The Tennessee Real Estate Commission (TREC) recently visited MAAR to share updates on state laws, TREC rules and more. Among these updates was information regarding expired licenses. If the license is in an "Expired Grace" status:

a) The licensee should not practice real estate until the license is active
b) The broker should reassign the licensee's active listing(s)
c) MAAR will suspend the agent’s membership and MLS privileges

If continuing education is completed after the license expiration date, the licensee must check verify.tn.gov to see whether the education credit has posted. Once posted, the licensee must call TREC to request that the license status be updated. Failure to do so will result in the expiration of the license.

If the license has expired or if the licensee is broker-released, it must be reinstated within twelve (12) months. After this period, the agent must re-test—no exceptions.
