The Association has been made aware of an email scam targeting members. The email appears to be from MAAR and it implores members to donate to a GoFundMe campaign. The email gives the impression of being legitimate; it features official logos from both MAAR and GoFundMe and resembles a typical email campaign from GoFundMe.

Be advised that these emails are not from MAAR. If you receive such an email, delete it immediately. We advise that you do not click any links or make any donations. The Association is not taking part in or endorsing any third-party crowdfunding or fundraising campaigns. Any campaigns on GoFundMe, YouCaring, GiveForward, Indiegogo or other crowdfunding platforms purporting to raise funds on behalf of MAAR are fraudulent.

The MAAR Benevolent Fund exists to help members during periods of financial hardship. Fundraising events for the Benevolent Fund are always promoted by MAAR on the website, social media and in the Weekly REALTOR®. Proceeds from Benevolent Fund fundraising events go directly to the Benevolent Fund, never to online campaigns. Furthermore, applications and awards granted are always confidential; a recipient's identity and the conditions for which they receive assistance are never advertised.
