In accordance with the Executive Order issued on Jan. 28 by President Biden, the U.S. Dept. of Health and Human Services (HHS) has announced a Special Enrollment Period (SEP) for individuals and families for Marketplace coverage in response to the COVID-19 Public Health Emergency. The SEP will run Feb. 15 – May 15 and will be available for anyone who is eligible to use the Marketplace, including those who are currently uninsured as well as those who already have coverage through and would prefer to pick a different plan. Coverage is prospective, with coverage beginning the first day of the month following the date of plan selection.

Starting Feb. 15, consumers seeking to take advantage of the new SEP can find out if they are eligible by visiting If you need help navigating the site, offers a step-by-step guide to using the Marketplace and choosing a plan. You can find local help at or by calling the Marketplace Call Center at 1.800.318.2596. The call is toll free and assistance is available in 150 languages.
