Congress created the federal Qualified Opportunity Zone (“QOZ”) program in the 2017 “Tax Cuts and Jobs Act” to encourage economic growth in underserved communities through tax benefits to investors. We have several Qualified Opportunity Zones right here in Memphis, but many people are unaware of them, or unsure how to leverage the tax benefits associated with them.

Join us at Memphis Bioworks as we shed light on this subject. You’ll hear from several expert speakers, each with knowledge of opportunity zones and insight on those right here in our area. Our speakers include:

  • Christopher Coes, Vice President of Land Use and Development at Smart Growth American & Director of LOCUS: Responsible Real Estate Developers and Investors
  • Evan Liddiard, Director of Federal Taxation for the National Association of REALTORS®
  • Emily Line, Vice President of Member Experience for Realtors Property Resource® (RPR), who will demo the brand new RPR Opportunity Zone map overlay
  • Bob Turner, ALC, who will share a case study about his own development in an Opportunity Zone in Millington

This event is free and open to all. Parking is available in the garage across the street at no cost. Light breakfast will be served. Please register by Thursday, October 3. Members of MAAR may register via the link below.

Non-members, please contact Danielle St. Lawrence to register.
