Quadrennial Ethics Training
All REALTOR® members are required to complete 2.5 hours of Code of Ethics training per four-year cycle. We are currently in the Third Training Cycle, January 1, 2009, through December 31, 2012.
Failure to comply with this required ethics training is a violation of a membership duty. If the requirement is not satisfied on or before December 31, 2012, the member will be suspended from membership for two (2) months or until the member satisfies the requirement, whichever is sooner. On March 1, 2013, if the member is still not in compliance, then he/she will be terminated from membership.
With the exception of REALTOR® Emeriti, all REALTORS® and REALTOR-ASSOCIATES® regardless of area of specialty (residential, commercial, appraisal, etc.) must satisfy the quadrennial ethics requirement..
NOTE: This is a National Association of REALTORS® mandate; NOT a requirement of the Tennessee Real Estate Commission or its continuing education requirements for licensees. However, if you take an Ethics CE course you will meet part of your CE requirement as well as the NAR membership mandate.
Refer to the Quadrennial Ethics FAQs for more information.
