Political Advocacy
Candidate Interview Process
MAAR diligently
interviews every candidate running for public office who has the
ability to affect our industry. Interviews are conducted by a panel of
three to seven REALTORS® who have undergone extensive training in
conducting candidate interviews. Their recommendations are considered
and approved by the Governmental Affairs committee and the MAAR Board
of Directors. Interviewing candidates is one of the most critical
roles of MAAR’s Governmental Affairs Program.
Lobbying
The
National Association of REALTORS® (NAR) and the Tennessee Association
of REALTORS® (TAR) employ full-time lobbyists, who monitor legislation
at the national and state levels affecting the real estate industry. In
addition, members of MAAR's Governmental Affairs Committee and MAAR
Governmental Affairs Director Aubrie Kobernus track legislative and
regulatory issues within Shelby, Fayette, Hardeman, Hardin, McNairy,
and Tipton Counties.
