Benevolent Fund
Purpose of the Fund: to provide emergency financial assistance to members and past members of the Memphis Area Association of REALTORS®
Who is eligible to apply: Any present member or past member of the Association (who maintained membership in good standing for at least twelve (12) consecutive months) shall be eligible to submit an application or have an application submitted for him or her or his or her immediate family and receive assistance from the Fund. Immediate family shall be defined as spouse and/or child(ren) under the age of 21 and living at home.
Maximum Amount: $5000 in any 12-month period
Process:
- Submit completed application. Applications can be found by clicking here or by contacting Aubrie Kobernus, MAAR’s Governmental Affairs Director, at (901)818-2423 or akobernus@maar.org.
- Benevolent Fund Committee meets and decides to approve or deny application. In some instances, additional information may be requested from the applicant.
- Committee recommendation goes to the MAAR Board of Directors for decision.
- Applicant will be notified by staff of decision. If approved, checks will be cut to the vendors that the applicant owes money to. No money is ever given directly to the applicant.
All information, including the identity of applicants, is confidential. Benevolent Fund dollars have been granted for some of the following circumstances:
- Help with burial expenses when there were no funds or insurance to help with the cost
- Assistance paying one month’s mortgage due to inability to work because of a serious illness
- Replace items lost from a devastating fire
- Payment towards the purchase of a wheelchair
