Education Requirements for Brokers & Affiliate Brokers
Affiliate brokers are required to renew their license every two years by successfully completing 16 hours of continuing education (CE) courses approved by the Tennessee Real Estate Commission. Four of those 16 hours must include the mandatory “TREC Core Course.” All 16 CE hours must be acquired by November 1st of even numbered years in order for your license to be renewed the following 2 years.
Affiliate brokers do not need to complete 16 hours of continuing education to renew their license for the licensing period in which they initially received their affiliate broker license. To be specific, anyone receiving their license between
Brokers who receive their license after January 1, 2005, will also be required to complete 16 hours of continuing education, just as an affiliate broker. This is a new policy enacted by the Tennessee Real Estate Commission in 2004.
Those individuals who received their license before July 1, 1980, are considered grandfathered and are not required to complete 16 hours of continuing education.
