Every month, MAAR will determine on which date the 100th closing in our MLS occurred. Of all closings on that date, we will randomly choose one to be our 100th closing winner. Prizes for the buyer include:
- $250 gift certificate to Ashley Furniture
- $150 gift card to Lowe's
- $100 gift card to Sears Commercial
- $250 off Initial Termite Treatment and if winner signs up for Annual Pest Control, the initial service is free from James Pest Management
- A 40 percent discount on any blind or shutter order from Budget Blinds of Memphis
And both the listing and selling agent(s) involved in the winning transaction will receive $100 in MAAR Education Dollars, good for use toward the fees for any MAAR CE credit class.

Sponsor: Sponsor (“Contest Sponsor”) of the MAAR Centennial 100th Closing Contest (“Contest”) is the Memphis Area Association of REALTORS®, Inc. (“MAAR”), 6393 Poplar Avenue, Memphis, TN 38119.
Contest Dates: Contest shall be conducted from January 1, 2010, through December 31, 2010 (“Contest Period”).
Winners: As described in more detail below, each month Contest Sponsor will select one or more eligible homebuyers to receive the Homebuyer Prize (“Homebuyer Winner” or “Homebuyer Winners”) and an eligible listing agent or listing agents and an eligible selling agent or selling agents to receive the REALTOR® Prizes (“Realtor® Winners”). As described below, there also will be a Grand Prize Winner for the year. Homebuyer Winners, Realtor® Winners, and the Grand Prize Winner are referred to herein individually as a “Winner” and collectively as “Winners.”
Eligibility: At the time of selection, each Winner must be a U.S. resident 18 years of age or older. Participants, users, and subscribers of the Memphis Area Association of REALTORS® Multiple Listing Service (“MAAR MLS”) and their immediate family members and members of Contest Sponsor and their immediate family members and are not eligible be Homebuyer Winners. For purposes of Contest: (1) “members of Contest Sponsor” includes any individual holding REALTOR®, REALTOR-ASSOCIATE®, Affiliate, Institute Affiliate, Public Service, or Honorary membership in MAAR; and (2) “immediate family members” means parents, spouses, siblings, and children. Employees, officers, and directors of Contest Sponsor and their immediate family members are not eligible to win any prize.
Selection of Monthly Winners: Each month during Contest Period, Contest Sponsor will, from among all residential listings entered as closed in the MAAR MLS in accordance with MAAR MLS Rules and Regulations (“Qualified Listings”), determine on which date the 100th listing was entered as closed (“Winning Date”). Among all Qualified Listings entered as closed on Winning Date, one listing will be selected randomly as the winning transaction for that month (“Winning Transaction”), with the monthly contest prizes being awarded as follows: (1) the Homebuyer Prize will be given to the buyer or buyers in the Winning Transaction; (2) the listing agent(s) in the Winning Transaction will receive one of the REALTOR® Prizes for the month; and (3) the selling agent(s) in the Winning Transaction will receive the other REALTOR® Prize for the month. If there is more than one buyer in the Winning Transaction, the Homebuyer Prize will be issued jointly and equally to all buyers in the Winning Transaction. If there is more than one listing agent in the Winning Transaction, the listing agent REALTOR® Prize will be issued jointly and equally to them. If there is more that one selling agent in the Winning Transaction, the selling agent REALTOR® Prize will be issued jointly and equally to them. If there is no selling agent in the Winning Transaction, the selling agent REALTOR® Prize will not be awarded for that month. For purposes of these Rules: (1) a dual agent will be considered to be only a listing agent; (2) the “buyer” is the individual or individuals listed as the buyer on the fully-executed Purchase and Sale Agreement, or on the contract that was utilized in lieu of a Purchase and Sale Agreement, in the closing of the Winning Transaction; and (3) “residential listing” is any listing filed with the MAAR MLS under one of the following categories: Category 1 – Residential Single Family, P.U.D., Zero Lot Line; Category 2 – Condominiums; or Category 5 – Duplexes.
Grand Prize Winner: Once the 12 monthly Homebuyer Winners have been determined, Contest Sponsor will select randomly the recipient(s) of one monthly Homebuyer Prize to be the Grand Prize Winner(s).
Prizes: Each monthly Homebuyer Winner will receive one $250.00 gift certificate from Ashley Furniture Homestore, one $150.00 gift card from Lowe’s Home Improvement Store, one $100.00 gift card from Sears Commercial, $250 off Initial Termite Treatment and if winner signs up for Annual Pest Control, the initial service is free from James Pest Management, and a coupon from Budget Blinds of Memphis for a 40 percent discount on any blind or shutter order. The monthly listing agent REALTOR® Prize is $100.00 in MAAR Education Dollars and the monthly selling agent REALTOR® Prize is $100.00 in MAAR Education Dollars. The winner of the Grand Prize drawing will receive one $5,000.00 shopping spree from Ashley Furniture Homestore. Winners are solely responsible for reporting and paying any and all applicable taxes. Use of prizes is solely governed by the terms and conditions outlined in the respective gift cards, coupons, etc. by the company or organization providing the prize. No more than one Homebuyer Prize, one listing agent REALTOR® Prize, and one selling agent REALTOR® Prize will be awarded each month.
Notification: Winners will be notified by mail, telephone, and/or e-mail, at Contest Sponsor’s option, within five business days after Winners have been determined. Any prize not claimed within 30 calendar days of notification shall be considered forfeited by the respective Winner.
Prize Availability: If Ashley Furniture Homestore, Lowe’s Home Improvement Stores, Sears Commercial, James Pest Management, or Budget Blinds of Memphis shall cease doing business or for some other reason fail or refuse to provide a prize referenced in these Rules, Contest Sponsor shall not be obligated to furnish such prize or any substitute prize or any compensation in lieu thereof.
Discretion: Contest Sponsor reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to cancel, terminate, modify, or suspend Contest, or any portion hereof, or to disqualify anyone who attempts to hinder or interfere with Contest in any way. Any dispute arising with regard to eligibility or any other issue relative to Contest shall be resolved by Contest Sponsor in its sole discretion.
