MAAR Commercial Council
Urban Farms Project
A dozen MAAR Commercial Council members and their families volunteered at the Binghampton Development Corporation's Urban Farms project on Saturday, October 22.
Volunteers worked all morning on projects including moving and organizing beams that will be used to build a greenhouse, winterizing plant beds with shade cloth, and moving the compost bins to a shadier spot for winter. Farmer Ben told our volunteers that they did a week's worth of work for him in only three hours.
The
Urban Farms and Urban Market located at the corner of Sam Cooper and Tillman are just a facet of the
Binghampton Development Corporation's mission. The goal of the Urban Market is to make healthy food and education about healthy eating accessible to the Binghampton community.
